The Horsham Rotary Club literally moved earth Wednesday to make way for a new pavilion and playground equipment at Kohler Park. Club members, flanked by the Horsham Township Council, held a
groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the official start of the $75,000
park improvement fundraising efforts. Rotary Club President-Elect Rick
Kidron said the group hopes to have a check to present to the council by
June 2012.

Township Council members W. William Whiteside, Gregory Nesbitt, Mark
McCouch, Deborah Tustin and Rotary Club member Rick Kidron on Wednesday
broke ground in the area where a new pavilion will be built at Kohler
Park. |
"It's a fabulous park," Kidron said. "One of the nicest places in Horsham."
Council President Mark McCouch said the park revitalization is part of the township's master plan.
"We'll be behind you 100 percent," McCouch said.
In addition to the rotary's fundraising efforts, Horsham, earlier
this month, applied for a $150,000 state grant. If the grant is
approved, Township Manager Bill Walker said the township would chip in
$75,000, for a total of $300,000.
Horsham will be notified by fall if the grant is approved, Walker
said. The state and township monies would fund restrooms, a public water
line, electricity, picnic tables, two drinking fountains, signage and a
rain garden, all of which would be carried out in 2013, he said.
